- But there's a good alternative for those Windows users who want to run
- their programs savely, NT, which runs most of Win software. Unfortunately,
- there's no 'AmigaOS NT', and every Amiga user is stuck with an oldish,
- unsecure OS.

- I wouldn't worry about the fact that some kind of OS emulation would be
- required. On PowerPC, it would be reasonably fast. Compatibility problems
- would exist, but I would be willing to take that risk.

- Unix systems need a lot of resources, and a guru to maintain them. A version
- of AmigaOS rewritten to be modern could benefit from not being a resource
- hog, its easy maintenance, and the powerful Shell/WB user interface which
- is easier to use than Unix, but almost as powerful in normal use.

- I'm suspecting the Amiga will stay in the bottom low-end. You are correct
- in that low-end machines won't run a rewritten system with MP effectively.
- Therefore I'm pretty sure that a version of AmigaOS with MP will never see
- daylight. I wish to be proved wrong, though.

-
- If memory protection were introduced, the only problematic area is
- interprocess messaging. In a typical application, this is a small fraction
- of the program code. Most parts of the program (Gfx, GUI generation, file
- handling etc.) would work untouched. A program with no interprocess
- communication might even work such as it is.
